We are on a perpetual mission…
We love life, exploring, and adventures. Our mission, for the past 9.5 years has been to make strange and off-color indie films while we script the stories bigger than our budget. We are finally succeeding in that realm, even if on a small scale. Our independent film production company, CopyCatFilms is located in beautiful, bustling Chicago, IL. It is the home of our laughter, hard work, sweat, and tears.
Now we are attempting to tackle the biggest obstacle of our lives…
to be good parents.
so here we go…
Farrin is a 32 year old make-up wearing, toolbox carrying baby dyke. She is “brains & brawn”, artistic, and crazy. Turns out, she may very well be the womb of choice for this duo’s dynamic baby endeavor, at least for the first round. She is also lead editor and technical guru for the film production company and holds a B.A. in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis.
Mariela is a…well lets say she’s near or around 30 granola tree-huggin’ lady of Latin America, specifically Colombia. She is always on the lookout for the silver lining. She loves to laugh and usually only listens to you so that she can collect “ammunition” to use in her games of picking and poking. Paper is her medium of choice, both in crafts (such as origami and handmade cards) and scriptwriting. Mariela is professionally trained in Theater & Communications with a B.A. from Central College but is most proud of the stamps in her passport.

Hi ladies! Just found your blog and had to comment – we are also in Chicago, just had our first consult with Chicago Women’s Health Center, I have a BA in Theater and my partner one in Film (she’s now a lawyer but still has film in her heart). Are you still TTC? Still making the documentary? I’m so happy to have found another Chicago couple in the lesbian TTC blogosphere

Wow! Hi! Thanks so much for commenting! Sorry it went to my spam folder. I’ve been so crazy busy that I haven’t been blogging about our TTC stuff–too busy trying I guess.
Anyway, its so cool to meet your acquaintance! Congrats on the big new journey. I can’t believe how much we have in common!?! Women’s Health Center is really great. We tried going to the TTC group meetings to meet other new-to-be-moms but we were so new to the game that it kind of brought us down, so we stopped.
But wow, here we are two years in…

We’ve moved on to a specialist and can’t wait for the new year…to dust off and try again!
I’d love to chat more & hope you both ALL THE BEST!
